The crash occurred Friday, Sept. 28 at around 3:45 p.m. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Niajeha Green, and the passenger was Tajanique Watson of Bridgeport. Police also discovered a large magnet typically used for shoplifting in Watson’s possession.
A few days later, on Monday, Oct. 1, the Town of Fairfield’s investigating officer notified the Westport Police Department regarding several items that were allegedly stolen from Urban Outfitters in Westport.
Multiple store employees were able to recognize Green and Watson, confirming that they had been in the store on Sept. 28 and stolen approximately $1,100 worth of merchandise. Police then submitted warrant applications for Green and Watson, which were later approved.
Several weeks later on Saturday, Nov. 17, Watson was taken into police custody at the Bridgeport Police Department and transported for processing to Westport headquarters. She was charged with fourth-degree larceny (shoplifting), possession of shoplifting device and conspiracy to commit. She was later released after posting $2,500 bond and will appear in Norwalk court on Monday, Nov 26.
Green turned herself in at police headquarters Sunday, Nov. 18, and was charged with fourth-degree larceny (shoplifting) and conspiracy to commit. She was released after posting $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk court on Thursday, Nov. 29.
